Asbestos Abatement in the Fraser Valley
WINMAR® Fraser Valley offers safe and thorough asbestos abatement services in the Fraser Valley. We combine highly trained specialists with advanced equipment and PPE to test for and remove asbestos.
The removal of asbestos is a delicate job, because disturbing the materials may be dangerous. If you suspect there is asbestos in your home or commercial building, follow these steps:
- Contact WINMAR® Fraser Valley right away to learn if there is a risk of asbestos and what to do next.
- A WINMAR® Fraser Valley asbestos abatement expert will respond quickly to complete a Hazardous Materials Survey. We will collect and send samples to a lab for testing.
- The Hazardous Report will be provided to us and you, and based on this information we will create a full abatement plan for the safe removal of any asbestos.
It’s important to note that asbestos can be disturbed by construction projects and renovations, including activities like sanding or removing materials. Before you begin a construction project on a building or home built before 1990, be sure to have it tested for asbestos.
Important Information About Asbestos Detection
Asbestos minerals are odourless, tasteless, and can’t be seen, which means the only way to know for certain that asbestos is present is through laboratory testing. In Canada, only AHERA accredited consultants can test for asbestos.
It’s typically found in buildings and homes built before the 1990s, when Asbestos was used in everyday products and building materials. Asbestos is made up of minerals that were mined in North America. Its durability, insulating properties, and chemical, heat, and fire-resistance properties made asbestos a desirable material for all kinds of building projects. However, this was before scientists and medical professionals learned the dangers of asbestos.
Asbestos is known as the “hidden killer” and can cause severe health problems, including cancer, chronic lung diseases, mesothelioma, and even death. The tiny fibres remain in the air, and when swallowed or inhaled, can severely damage the lungs and abdomen.
